Take a fancy to domestic animals

Both parents and children will love the Children's Zoo. The pleasent greenery of the Children’s Zoo is a lovely counterpoint to the the twist and twirl of the rides. Bunny rabbits, puppies and pot-bellied pigs are always eager to pose for admirers and even adults may suddenly find themselves gently baa-ing along with the little goats.

The lovable family of alpaca

The newest inhabitants of Children's Zoo are alpacas. Särkänniemi's alpaca family has had two new calves during their stay in Children´s Zoo. Come and meet the lovable family of alpaca!

Alpacas are related to camels and they are originally from Peru, Chile and Bolivia. In the Andies alpacas live at 5000 meters above the sea level. There are two types of alpacas - the Huacaya and the Suri. Adult alpacas are only about 1 meter tall.
